A true southern California native Ira was born in Santa Monica grew up in Calabasas and currently resides in Topanga.
As a junior she participated in 4-H primarily for the
horse project but also rabbits, poultry, Guide Dogs for the Blind & quilting. She spent 10 years with Equestrian Trials
International and during high school participated in the Interscholastic Equestrian League. Ira continued her equestrian education with the British Horse Society at Talland School
of Equitation Cirencerster, England. She returned home actively competing horses and completed a her bachelors of Art at Sonoma
State University and continued graduate work at UCLA Ira
has a broad spectrum of professional horse experience ranging from employment with the City of Santa Monica Police Dept Mounted
Unit, as horse attendant, Mill Creek Equestrian Center, as Riding School Director heading programs such as Horses in the Hood
(a riding program for inner city kids) and teaching UCLA beginning-riding program. Prior to that Ira worked with SERT Special
Equestrian Riding Therapy as Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor. Memberships include: United States Equestrian Federation, United States Dressage Federation, Dressage Association
Southern California, Equestrian Trails International, North American Riding Association for the Handicapped, American Red
Cross.
